Filmmaker: Officers arrest Iran movie business workers

An award-wining Iranian filmmaker claims authorities have raided the workplaces and residences of many filmmakers and other sector gurus and arrested some of them

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An award-wining Iranian filmmaker reported authorities raided the offices and houses of a number of filmmakers and other industry industry experts and arrested some of them.

Mohammad Rasoulof stated in a assertion signed by dozens of movie field professionals on his Instagram account late Saturday that security forces built some arrests and confiscated movie manufacturing machines throughout raids carried out in recent days. The statement condemned the steps and referred to as them “illegal.”

In a different Instagram article, Rasoulof recognized two of the detained filmmakers as Firouzeh Khosravani and Mina Keshavarz. Rasoulof was not specific in the the latest raids.

Iranian media and authorities have not commented on the raids and no added details were right away offered. Authorities in Iran sometimes arrest activists in cultural fields around alleged safety violations.

Rasoulof won the Berlin Film Festival’s top rated prize in 2020 for his movie “There Is No Evil.” It tells 4 stories loosely connected to the themes of the loss of life penalty in Iran and individual freedoms beneath tyranny.
