Latonia’s female business enterprise homeowners create neighborhood

If you come across oneself at Ritte’s Corner, the unusual five-way intersection in Covington’s Latonia neighborhood, consider a minute and look at the storefronts that surround you.

They market materials and espresso, vintage armchairs and garments. They are purveyors of attractiveness and wellness, heritage and structure.

And they are predominantly owned by women of all ages.

10 woman business enterprise proprietors (quickly to be 11) run 13 corporations in the Latonia Company District.

And it’s not a coincidence.

Billie Kegley and Chris Kidwell are the unofficial ringleaders of the group. Kegley owns the Roost Latonia, alongside with Mona Lisa’s Collections and an incubator, Blondielocks and the A few Chairs. Kidwell opened her boutique, Community Studio 325, a 12 months and a 50 % ago.

“It’s the initial environment the place I’ve felt rooted … and supported,” points out Kegley. “In every factor.”
